Breaking news: earthquake strikes Chile

I was deeply saddened to read about the earthquake that struck Chile early this morning. News coverage and photos are available on several outlets. The quake reached an 8.8 on the Richter scale and killed at least 147 people, with the death toll expected to rise. Hawaii, New Zealand, British Columbia, and many others are on tsunami watch.

Our hearts and prayers go out to those affected and their families.

Two days left for 2009 tax-deductible donations to Haiti

A message from Partners in Health

You have two days left to contribute to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti and deduct your gift on your 2009 tax returns.

Thanks to your donations, Partners In Health has been able to play an important role in the humanitarian response to this tragedy. Yet, with a third of Haiti's population suffering from homelessness, injury, or other consequences of the quake, it is clear that the work to rebuild Haiti has barely begun.

Every dollar we raise to support the Haitian people will help give them the opportunity to rebuild their lives and their country to a stronger place than it was before.

If you were thinking of making a future gift to Partners In Health's work in Haiti, consider donating today to qualify for the special tax provision:
